Jean Armbrust

Jean ArmbrustJean Armbrust was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska, and attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.  She married Art Armbrust in 1964, and they are the proud parents of three daughters.

Jean became involved with German Shorthaired Pointers in 1973 when Art expressed the wish to “have just one good hunting dog.”  This, of course, led to another dog, and she and Art now raise and train these wonderful animals.

After acquiring their first Shorthair, Art and Jean joined the German Shorthaired Pointer Club of Nebraska.  Jean almost immediately became Field Trial Secretary for the next 33 years as well as the club secretary for the past 36 years.  She also served as field trial secretary for the German Shorthaired Pointer Club of America (AKC) for 20 years and the National German Shorthaired Pointer Association (American Field) field trial and club secretary for the past 18 years.  During this time, Jean, along with Art’s assistance, produced the National Championship Catalog for the German Shorthaired Pointer Club of America for 25 years and the National German Shorthaired Pointer Association Championship Catalog for 18 years.

Additionally, Jean also produced the Shorthair Magazine for three years, served as secretary for the Sand Hills Prairie Chicken Championship for two years, and currently serves as Treasurer for the Nebraska Field Trial Association, which oversees the grounds and constantly improves the facilities at the Branched Oak Lake field trial area.

Jean reminisces that she has enjoyed all these tasks as well as watching the Shorthair breed grow and improve.  She states that “she has made many wonderful friends and has many wonderful memories over the years, but she could not have done these things without the support of Art and her family.”

“Honored by this nomination for the Field Trial Hall of Fame,” Jean thanks those who felt her “worthy of consideration.”
