2025 NGSPA Region 8 Classic
By Keith Richardson
The Region 8 Championship was a success and was followed by the Region 8 Classic
which is the first ever 30 Minute NGSPA Classic. These Classics were approved by the
NGSPA Board with the intention of providing a venue for NGSPA participants to qualify
their dogs for the NGSPA Nationals without having to run in AKC 30 minute trials. We
used the out and back course in the entire 3 mile Habitat which does not require the
dogs to be booted. There were plenty of wily Huns and Chukar on the course to test the
steadiness of all dogs. The Classic began after the completion of Region 8.
Two pros stayed after Region 8 to run the Classic: Dan DiMambro and Rich Robertson.
We were happy to welcome a newcomer to the NGSPA, Bob Toney from Iowa. He
showed up with two nice dogs and ran them in the Region 8 and in the Classic. Several
amateurs stayed over to run as well: Mike Patrick, Kirk Loftin and Sherri Tangsrud. Two
super-qualified judges stayed to help: Sheldon Rogers and Jadie Rayfield. A special
thanks to all of the same people who made Region 8 such a success.
Amateur Shooting Dog Classic

Judges: Sheldon Rogers and Jadie Rayfield. Starters: 6 GSPs.
Stoney Hill’s NK Deadman’s Hand (Ace), handled and owned by Kirk Loftin
earned First Place.
Ace ran a strong forward race and had a find on Huns after the double gate mid-course,
which he handled well with nice style.
2 ND AND 3 RD WITHHELD
The other five dogs either went birdless or had trouble handling the birds they found
resulting in the other placements being withheld. Even though our Classics are a 30
minute event the standards are the same as for a 60 minute Championship.
Open All-Age Classic

.
Uodibar’s Keystone Cowboy (Cowboy), handled and owned by Sherri Tangsrud
earned First Place.
Cowboy had the biggest run of the stake. His huge opening cast took him through the
Ferguson Gate aver the double hills through the double gates. He hunted the heavy
cover line of the Big Habitat.
Prairie Wind High Voltage (Ellie), handled by Rich Robertson and owned by Keith
and Bobbi Richardson earned Second Place.
Ellie had a nice ground race hanging the edges and going to likely cover throughout.
She had handled nicely, had good ground speed and excellent application.
Weideland’s Slate Rock’s Chisel (Chisel), handled by Dan DiMambro and owned
by Andrew Dynkiewicz.
Chisel had a nice run but was edged out by Ellie on ground race and application.
