The 2025 NGSPA Region 2 was held at Mingo Sportsman Club in Bloomingdale, OH as it was in previous years. The championship runs immediately after the NGSPA nationals and had been advertised that it would start after the conclusion of the nationals. Due to the weather at the nationals, the Region 2 was unable to start until April 16 instead of the planned April 14. With the shorted amount of time to run the Amateur Shooting Dog and Open All Age were the only stakes that were run as the Open Shooting Dog and Open Derby were listed as time permitting.
The championship would like to extend a heart filled thank you to all the participants that packed up from Nationals and B-lined over to Mingo so support the Championship. Andy Dynkiewicz, Dr. Fred Ryan, Kirk Loftin, Sherri Tangsrud Abe Macke, Peter Coppens, Chris Young and Dan DiMambro – thank you so much for supporting the trial. With your dedication, even with the shortened running time, the top dogs in the country were represented.
Our Judges this year for both stakes were Jim Winnen from Wattsburg, PA and Vincent Tuttle from Scottsville, KY. Having these two paired together made a superb panel. Thank you for bringing your experience and knowledge to evaluate the entries! Also, thank you for your flexibility and understanding with the undetermined start date due to the nationals.
Chris Young, Jen Goodall, Dr. Fred Ryan, Andy & Becky Dynkiewicz and Dr. Robert Reynolds are the unsung heroes of this championship. They are the ones who help and make this championship go. They make up the volunteers that donate their time to make sure the Region 2 runs smoothly each year. Balancing books, securing birds, driving the dog wagon and preparing lunch all take time and you do not have to do it. Thank you!
And lastly but not least important, we would also like to thank our continued sponsors Purina Pro Plan. Your support means the world to this championship as well as all the participants.
The Amateur shooting dog ran first having 14 dogs entered. The Champion came out of brace 1A and was Chicoree’s Four Leaf Clover (Chloe) owned/handled by Dr. Fred Ryan. Chloe carded divided finds at 7 and 54 as well as a find at 56. The Runner-Up Champion came out of brace 2B and was Uodibar’s Robbie Jo (Robbie) handled by Kirk Loftin and owned by Sherri Tangsrud.
The Open All Age followed with 11 entries. The Champion and Runer-Up both came out of brace 2. The Champion was Monkeyshines Call Me The Breeze (Breezy). Breezy was handled by Dan DiMambro and is owned by Helmut Schoen. Breezy carded finds at 10, 16 and 45. The Runner-Up Champion was Uodibar’s Robbie Jo (Robbie) handled by Kirk Loftin and owned by Sherri Tangsrud. Robbie carded a find at 45.
Congratulations to all the winners and runner-ups! Looking forward to seeing everyone again next April!
